Retouching Portraits: Fixing the Obvious

Changing the Universe one pixel at a time...

Fix-it Tools

The Clone Tool

The only awkwardness using Camera Raw is that if you want to have a color version of the same picture, you have to duplicate before you do the conversion. In Lightroom you can make virtual copies, (you are essentially duplicating the sidecar .xmp file, and Lightroom manages the different corresponding files virtually.)

You should always apply the "develop" changes you want to the color version before you do the black & white conversion. This includes input sharpening.

The Patch Tool

In Camera Raw HSL/Grayscale panel there are a few more sliders for more control. They are: Oranges (affects mostly skin tones), Aqua (sea water), and Purples.
